Our intergenerational sessions link schools and preschools with local care homes across the North East, creating opportunities for children and older residents to connect through singing and British Sign Language (BSL). These shared experiences help build relationships, understanding, and a strong sense of community, creating joyful experiences that promote inclusion, wellbeing, and mutual understanding across generations.

For residents, these sessions provide valuable social interaction, helping to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. For children, they offer a chance to grow in confidence, empathy, and communication skills by performing in a real and meaningful setting.

Children and residents learn and perform songs together, using BSL to support communication and inclusion. These sessions build confidence in children while giving residents a sense of purpose and pride, as both generations learn from and support one another.
